March, 1999 More [Artist Bios]

Mike Chlasciak is a 'righteous', potent guitar player from New Jersey (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as aggressive metal, as can be heard on his latest release, "The Spilling". photoHis guitars of choice include a Jackson USA Made RR V (Floyd Rose and Standard models) and an Ibanez USA Custom. Chlasciak has played guitar since 1980, and frankly confirms his career goal, "To be recognized worldwide as an unique and inspiring metal guitar player that also added a new dimention to instrumental guitar music. "

When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Chlasciak countered with, "Wah-Wah," and then detailed his musicial goals, "I'd like to combine a medium where aggression, finesse and uniqueness all share equal parts. I want to add something new and exciting to metal, and set a trail to be followed by others later." He would like to someday study continue his studies in classical/ orchestral composition. , and is currently listening to Malmsteen, Royal Hunt, Rhapsody, Venom and selected Euro-Metal and Black-Metal offerings. His utmost satisfaction? "Knowing that my guitar playing has been heard world wide and that records containing my playing have sold in 100s of thousands. It was also great to see Halford CD "Resurrection" in the Billboard 200. Playing at Madison Square Garden and Rock In Rio Festival was also amazing. Rock In Rio concert was in front of 250,000 people. Other artists performing were Britny Spears, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, 'N Sync and more. Total attendance over 4 days was 1.5 million people. I have had the pleasure touring the world with Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Gamma Ray, Overkill and more. I have also jammed with Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, Queensryche's Geoff Tate and Scorpions' Rudolf Schenker. I have had lot of great exposure on VH-1 and the biggest Metal/ Guitar magazines, however the greatest satisfaction is that I can make a decent living by playing guitar, and you can't beat that," he answers decidedly.

photoChlasciak mentions ongoing and upcoming projects in his own words, "Halford's album "Live Insurrection" (Metal-Is/ Sanctuary) has just been released world-wide, so we'll be promoting that. I will also be doing promo for my 3rd solo album "The Spilling". I have numerous compilation albums coming out such as "Ball III" (SB Discs), "Loudest Times 2" (Progressive Arts Music), etc. I also just jammed on a Jason Becker tribute album "Warmth In The Wilderness" (Lion Music) with Ron Thal. Other artists on the song I played on are James Byrd and Partick Rondadt. I'm also collaborating with Royal Hunt vocalist John West and Savatage's Chris Caffery on a record to be released later in 2002. We have also started writing for the second Halford studio album. I'm also collaborationg with other world-class musicians for future releases and special events. Stay tuned."

Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Mike Chlasciak to guitarists such as Steve Vai, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Michael Angelo and others.
