Michael Elsner is a skillful and more-than-capable axe wielder currently based in Los Angeles, California (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as instrumental rock, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent album, "Stained Voodoo". His most utilized guitars consist of a Fender American Strat and a Brian Moore Custom Shop C-55. Elsner has been playing guitar since 1988, and without beating around the bush reveals his career aspiration, "My favorite thing in the world is touring and traveling. Within the next 5 to 10 years I see myself continuing on that path, touring with mainstream pop and rock artists."
When asked to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Elsner responded by saying, "Delay," and continued by mentioning his musicial goals, "Musically, with this record I wanted to create melodic instrumental music that incorporates all the instruments in the band, working together as a unit and not just as ‘support’ for the guitar. I want my music to be universally appealing to guitarists, other musicians, as well as the non-musician." He eagerly hopes to one day study fingerstyle guitar at some point in my life, and is presently listening to Richie Kotzen, Collective Soul, Vertical, Horizon and Matchbox 20. His principal fulfillment? "My greatest satisfaction comes from making a living as a musician, as well as the fact that my career has allowed me to work with and become good friends with the two musicians who I used to idolize as a teenager," he declares incontestably.
Elsner concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings enthusiastically, by saying, "Generally, my musical life consists of me playing on a variety of sessions for film and television composers, as well as affording me the opportunity to place my own songs in various television shows and commercials."
Elsner's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one recording project (Jeff Bowders "The Pilgrimage Of Thingamuhjig").
