Matthew Von Doran is a skillful and more-than-capable axe wielder currently based in Orange County, California (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as jazz/rock/fusion/blues, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent album, "Clazz". His most utilized guitars consist of a Tom Anderson electric solidbody and a Gibson Chet Atkins nylon string. Doran has been playing guitar since 1976, and without beating around the bush reveals his career aspiration, "Solo artist with record deal. Also sideman/band member with different artists of different styles."
When asked to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Doran responded by saying, "Reverb," and continued by mentioning his musicial goals, "To play appropriately in the moment with honesty and integrity." He eagerly hopes to one day study at Berklee in Boston, and is presently listening to Wes Montgomery, Robben Ford, Robin Trower, Pat Metheny and Keith Jarrett. His principal fulfillment? "When I can step back and let the music happen without my participation," he declares incontestably.
Doran concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings enthusiastically, by saying, "Scott Wilkie band, Tim Moyer band, Razz, Don Miller big band, Kerry Getz band, Matthew Von Doran trio, teaching, studio work."
Doran's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one recording project (Razz "Clazz").
