Marcel Wittfeld is a unmistakable and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in Eagle Rock, California (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as instrumental rock, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Marcel Wittfeld". His workhorse guitars consist of a Fender Strat and a Tom Anderson Custom Strat. Wittfeld has been playing guitar since 1984, and putting it simply, relates his career objective, "Producing other artists, scoring films, playing live as much as possible, putting out a solo album every two years or so."
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Wittfeld resolutely answered, "Loop delay," and then outlined his musicial goals, "When it comes to music, I don't really have 'goals' anymore, I just let it happen. I used to compromise to much trying to achieve goals." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study piano, and is at the moment listening to Tori Amos, Helmet, J.S. Bach, Depeche Mode and Michael Hedges. His most important gratification? "Someone played a song off my CD at their little daughter's funeral. Even though the occasion was very sad, that moment was the most dignifying of my musical career. Being able to touch people like that gives me great satisfaction," he explains without hesitation.
Wittfeld winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Working on follow-up to my 1995/96 instrumental debut album. Also, assistant position with German soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer, co-production of a vocal-oriented pop album by Latin artist Joel Robles and co-founding of Mother Electra Studios, a commercial music production facility in Hollywood."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Marcel Wittfeld to guitarists such as Steve Vai and others.
Wittfeld's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one recording project (Tim Callobre "The Beginning").
