Kevin Russell is a dazzling, 'righteous' six-stringer from San Rafael, California (U.S.A.) who reveals his style as contemporary blues/rock, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "My Generation". His favorite guitars include a '94 Strat and a '73 Les Paul. Russell has played guitar since 1968, and freely declares his career aspiration, "Continue to make records, tour, teach and produce other artists."
When requested to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Russell came back with, "Tube Screamer," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "To carry on the blues and to tell my truth in my lyrics." He fervently hopes to one day study more about chord voicings and different tunings, and is at this time listening to Muddy Waters, Freddy King, Jimmy Page and a lot of new R&B such as Diangelo and Lauren Hill. His primary fulfillment? "When i've completed a new record and it's time to support it live," he affirms categorically.
Russell concludes by listing continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Teaching/clinics and always writing new music."
Russell's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Thicker Than Water", "Movin' On", "Trip To Heaven", "My Generation") and participation on a number of other recordings (Rick Derringer "Back To The Blues", Rick Derringer "Collection: The Blues Bureau Years", Jimmy Dillon "Rituals", Jimmy Dillon "Bad And Blue", L.A. Blues Authority "Fit For A. King", L.A. Blues Authority "Hats Off To Stevie Ray", Leslie West "Collection").
