John Inman is a vital, passionate guitar player from Carrolton, Texas (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as progressive jazz rock, as can be heard on his latest release, "Modeous Eclectic". His favorite guitar is an Ibanez (RG, Prestiege). Inman has played guitar since 1986, and plainly avows his career goal, "Make a living in music, one way or another."
When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Inman countered with, "Reverb," and then detailed his musicial goals, "I try to express emotion through melody. It's my opinion that if you can't move someone with your notes, what's the point? I try to create lead parts that sing, like a verse, chorus, etc." He would like to someday study piano and jazz music ("I would love to study under a guitarist/composer like Al DiMeola. I'm really influenced by his overall instrumentation/compositions"), and is at this time listening to Journey, industrial metal, jazz/fusion, '80s new wave ("I just go through heavy moodswings, and really love music"). His utmost satisfaction? "Being appreciated by a diverse audience, and of course, a great response at a live performance," he answers decidedly.
Inman details continuing and future projects in his own words, "I occasionally write and record with a side project (industrial/alternative) called Seven Day Trip, as well as writing material for my next solo release, hopefully due in Y2K."
Inman's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Modeous Eclectic", "skiesWIDEopen") and participation on another recording (Matt Cafissi "Heat Of Emotion").
