Jim Reindel is a unmistakable and nimble-fingered musician/guitarist currently based in Olmsted Falls, Ohio (United States) who denotes his playing style as progressive hard rock instrumental guitar, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Too Dumb To Quit". His workhorse guitar is a Flying V. Reindel has been playing guitar since 1972, and putting it simply, divulges his career objective, "Along with my partner in Too Old To Rock, Chris Hattingh, we'd like to have upwards of five great guitar albums under our belts, which will stand the test of time."
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Reindel resolutely answered, "Reverb," and then outlined his musicial goals, "I'm tired of what I perceive as a general lowering of standards in contemporary rock guitar music (with a few notable exceptions of course), and I'm trying to counter that trend by creating some guitar music that will inspire and challenge those guitarists that come after us." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study with Steve Vai, and is at the moment listening to Steve Vai, Dream Theater, Rush, Michael Schenker and Joe Satriani. His most important gratification? "Getting positive feedback on my music from fellow guitarists," he explains without hesitation.
Reindel wraps up by noting long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "For right now I can't see much beyond the Too Old To Rock release. Chris and I are gonna spend the next 4-6 months just trying to market and promote the first CD and get it off the ground. After that we'll probably take a short break and then start writing material for the next TOTR album."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Jim Reindel to guitarists such as Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani, Michael Schenker and others.
