Jim Horne is a sparkling, altogether exciting six-stringer from Ranshaw, Pennsylvania (USA) who reveals his style as progressive rock, metal, fusion and shred, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "Panic Attack". His favorite guitars include a 7-String Ibanez K-7 and a 7-String Conklin Melt-Top. Horne has played guitar since 1986, and freely acknowledges his career aspiration, "I see myself continuing with instrumental guitar oriented CD releases, working with virtuoso musicians and have the music released with a label to take care of promotion."
When requested to reveal his ultimate effect for the guitar, Horne came back with, "Boss DD-3 Delay," and then brought up his musicial goals, "With so many amazing guitarists, both known and un-known I strive to have my
own unique sound, be it good or bad, I can at least call it my own." He fervently hopes to one day study production and engineering, and is at this time listening to Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Jason Becker and Zero Hour. His primary fulfillment? "To have a piece of music come together, from starting with a simple
riff/lick, adding drums, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, doubling tracks and so
on. To have what I heard in my head finally recorded and mixed, and to hear
it back has to be one of the best feelings as a musician, outside of
performing live," he affirms conclusively.
Horne concludes by mentioning continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "I am currently searching for virtuoso musicians to put together a project in the style of progressive rock, fusion and shred. "
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Jim Horne to guitarists such as Tony MacAlpine, Joey Tafolla, Chris Poland and others.
Horne's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one recording project (Carlos Lichman "Firestorm").
