Jeff Morris is a consummate, vibrant guitarist from Newburyport, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) who describes his style as reverb drenched, 5-alarm rock 'n' roll, as demonstrated on his latest release, "Tri-State Killing Spree". His guitar of choice is a Gretsch 6120 ("The color of a Mexican sunset"). Morris has played guitar since 1984, and openly states his career goal, "Writing and recording music for use in movies, commercials etc."
When prompted to reveal his favorite effect for the guitar, Morris replied, "Re-freakin-verb," and offered his musicial goals, "That elusive feel. Music that makes you feel like whatever you're doing is dramatic and exciting. Dusty road music that makes you squint and check your rear view mirror as you accelerate past 90 MPH." He would love to someday study well, nothing in particular ("Sounds too much like work. I wouldn't mind figuring out how to get the sound of a '65 Fender Showman out of a Champ so I can stop breaking my back at gigs"), and is currently listening to Jim Campilongo, Duke Levine, Danny Gatton and Ronnie Earl. His greatest satisfaction? "I don't want to scare the ladies, so let's just say that when you see the butts-a-boogie-ing in the crowd, you know you're doing your job. It almost makes me smile," he states unambiguously.
Morris lists ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "We're recording some new tracks in a month or so and we'll be releasing a second CD soon after. Things have gone very well for our first release, and we're expecting to do even better with this one."
