Jay EuDaly is a skillful and expressive musician/guitarist currently based in Kansas City, Missouri (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as jazz/rock/new age, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Sound Tracks". His workhorse guitars consist of a 1966 Gibson ES 175 and a Martin MC28. EuDaly has been playing guitar since 1968, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "To make more money doing what I'm doing now."
When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, EuDaly resolutely answered, "Depends on the song, doesn't it," and outlined his musicial goals, "I express myself. What the listener gets depends on the listener. That's why I like instrumental music - it's undefined as far as what it communicates. The listener supplies the meaning. " He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study with Jim Hall, and is at the moment listening to his own music, John Scofield, Mike Stern and Pat Metheny. His most important gratification? "Making a living and supporting a family with the guitar - I get to play the guitar all day - every day," he muses confidently.
EuDaly winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "A new CD out in February, 2001. It will be traditional jazz organ trio a la Wes Montgomery and Jimmy Smith. I've written a series of method books for guitar. I'm currently building a network of teachers that are using my books. I'm currently teaching 65 students a week and playing 3 or 4 gigs a week in the KC area as a freelancer."
EuDaly's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Sound Tracks").
