Jay EuDaly is a sparkling, vital guitarist from Kansas City, Missouri (U.S.A.) who describes his style as jazz/rock/new age, as documented on his latest release, "Sound Tracks". His guitars of choice include a 1966 Gibson ES 175 and a Martin MC28. EuDaly has played guitar since 1968, and frankly affirms his career goal, "To make more money doing what I'm doing now."
When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, EuDaly responded with, "Depends on the song, doesn't it," and submitted his musicial goals, "I express myself. What the listener gets depends on the listener. That's why I like instrumental music - it's undefined as far as what it communicates. The listener supplies the meaning. " He would like to someday study with Jim Hall, and is currently listening to his own music, John Scofield, Mike Stern and Pat Metheny. His greatest satisfaction? "Making a living and supporting a family with the guitar - I get to play the guitar all day - every day," he answers indisputably.
EuDaly notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "A new CD out in February, 2001. It will be traditional jazz organ trio a la Wes Montgomery and Jimmy Smith. I've written a series of method books for guitar. I'm currently building a network of teachers that are using my books. I'm currently teaching 65 students a week and playing 3 or 4 gigs a week in the KC area as a freelancer."
