Jaye Foucher is a driven, vibrant guitarist from Waltham, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) who describes her style as progressive, funky, bluesy, instrumental hard rock, as demonstrated on her latest release, "Contagious Grooves". Her guitar of choice is a Jackson Dinky model ("Customized for me"). Foucher has played guitar since 1984, and openly states her career goal, "Well gee, I'd love to be rich and famous, but I'll settle for famous and making a living playing original music. So that means I'll have another few albums out (either on a label or on my own), hopefully a clinic tour or two under my belt, a much bigger fan base, and MAN I hope to hell I have some major management by then!"
When prompted to reveal her favorite effect for the guitar, Foucher replied, "Delay," and offered her musicial goals, "I try to write songs that are interesting and fun and have melodies that a person could sing along with. And I write solos that fit the song--not ones that are merely a showcase for my technical abilities." She would love to someday study jazz, and is currently listening to Sevendust, Dream Theater ("their older albums though"), Stone Temple Pilots, Creed and Alanis Morissette. Her greatest satisfaction? "When someone tells me that they listen to my CD over and over again because they love it so much and it's their favorite CD," she states unambiguously.
Foucher lists ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "Lately I seem to spend my musical day trying to keep my in-box from overflowing. Seems I spend more time on the business end of things than on playing--which really bothers me! On the playing side, I'm writing new material for the next album and I'm also trying to put together a second band with this really incredible songwriter/vocalist I know--a very different project than my instrumental stuff, one that's more song and vocal oriented. But I plan to continue doing the instrumental music as well."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Jaye Foucher to guitarists such as John Petrucci and others.
Foucher's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Infectious Licks").
