Il-Min Choi is a passionate and expressive musician/guitarist currently based in Seoul (South Korea) who denotes his playing style as instrumental hard rock, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Guitar Recipe". His workhorse guitar is a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster. Choi has been playing guitar since 1985, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "Constant instrumental guitar playing. That be all!"
When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Choi purposefully responded with, "TC Electronics G Force and Tube Screamer 9," and outlined his musicial goals, "I want to express international music sense by using my guitar. My music is not for Korean fan only, but for world's guitar music fan." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study nothing in particular, and is at the moment listening to all of Joe Satriani's albums, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck and Andy Timmons. His most important gratification? "Video games! I like them very much," he muses confidently.
Choi winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "My CD "Guitar Recipe" will be released by Zeneon (licensed In Japan) in February, 2005. I'll also be an endorser (Hohn Sipit that Korean Custom Shop of Freebud) in December, 2004."
Choi's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Garlic Butter", "Guitar Recipe") and participation on another recording (Carmine Appice "Guitar Zeus Korea").
