Greigg Fraser is a nimble-fingered, committed six-stringer from London, Ontario (Canada) who reveals his style as melodic fusion/rock guitar, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "Tech Noir". His favorite guitars consist of a Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 and a Steinberger GL4T-A. Fraser has played guitar since 1975, and candidly acknowledges his career aspiration, "To continue writing and recording my music and making enough to continue doing just that, with a new album/CD every year."
When requested to reveal his ultimate effect for the guitar, Fraser answered back with, "Compression," and then brought up his musicial goals, "I want people to come away from listening to my music with a melody in their head -- so many guitar CDs are just forums for the guitarist to just noodle away with little thought to the song itself. Don't get me wrong, I love soloing just as much as the next guy, but if you have a strong sense of melody in your music, more people can enjoy it, not just musicians!" He hopes to one day study acoustic fingerstyle ("I see much more of it in my future"), and is at this time listening to violinists Stephane Grappelli, Nigel Kennedy and Itzhak Perlman (and Jeff Beck's new disc, of course!). His primary fulfillment? "Composing, without question. Creating a piece of your own music has got to be the greatest high there is," he affirms conclusively.
Fraser concludes by mentioning continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Even though I am not to the point in my career at this time where I make my living with my music alone, I still am able to do so with teaching guitar/bass, the odd gig and guitar repair. I practice every day, write new material and will either release another mainly "electric" style CD, or perhaps an all acoustic one. I have lots of material for both!"
Fraser's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Tech Noir", "Making Waves").
