Greg Rapaport is a seven-string guitarist whose musical focus is a blend of
instrumental
progressive-metal and jazz-fusion. He has released three critically
acclaimed cds (Wyrd 2001,
Azrael Block 2003, Homunculus 2006) and spends his free time writing and
recording in his
project studio in Mohegan Lake, New York.
A seasoned player for over 25 years Greg has grown into a competent
songwriter and soloist.
His influences on guitar include Frank Gambale, Allan Holdsworth, Scott
Henderson, Al DiMeola,
and Jimmy Page. Influences on bass include, Gary Willis, Victor Wooten and
John Paul Jones.
Also influential in Greg`s development is teaching, live performance and,
freelance
recording and production.
Since investing in a project studio Greg has been able to write and record
three solo instrumental
releases. Wyrd, his first effort garnered many positive reviews and
international radio play.
His follow up, Azrael Block, allowed him to further hone his production
skills while increasing his scope of
exposure through radio, magazines and the internet.
The sickness continues as Greg delves deep into the grey matter on his third
release, Homunculus.
Rooting around and exploring different attributes of the human psyche, Greg
outlines his findings with
each song representing an emotional attribute through its style and
composition. The main ingredients;
fusion, progressive metal and funk are present, just now at industrial
strength. Homunculus marks the
return of Greg Rapaport`s guitar mastery that has been captivating both fans
and critics of the
instrumental guitar scene since 2001.
