Glenn Cannon is a nimble-fingered and consummate axe wielder currently based in Melbourne (Australia) who represents his playing style as jazz/fusion, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent recording, "Logic?". His most utilized guitars consist of a Musicman "Luke" and a Gibson 335. Cannon has been playing guitar since 1988, and straight from the shoulder discloses his career objective, "To play my own tunes with great musicians... which I'm pretty much doing now."
When prompted to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Cannon unflinchingly stated, "Distortion," and continued by citing his musicial goals, "Hopefully something interesting harmonically, as well as tunes that are interactive from a group perspective." He eagerly hopes to, at some point, study with a few drummers from New York, maybe by jamming with Zach Danziger, or Jojo Mayer, and is presently listening to Allan Holdsworth, Wayne Krantz, Chick Corea and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. His principal gratification? "Improvising with great musicians, as well as hearing my original tunes come to life when played by a band for the first time," he explains without a doubt.
Cannon wraps up by mentioning current and approaching endeavors enthusiastically, by saying, "I'm trying to practice more. I'm also releasing second CD with fusion group Logic, and a release ("Leverage") under my own name later in the year."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Glenn Cannon to guitarists such as Allan Holdsworth and others.
Cannon's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Leverage", "Clockwork") and participation on a number of other recordings (Avatar "Hands", Logic? "Logic?", Logic? "The Waiting Game", Logic? "Native Strut", Logic? "The Hierarchy", Logic? "Live With DVD").
