Gerald Gradwohl is a driven and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in Wiener Neustadt (Austria) who denotes his playing style as funk, fusion, jazz with a powerful attitude, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "ABQ". His workhorse guitars consist of an Ibanez FGM300 and a Parker MidiFly. Gradwohl has been playing guitar since 1978, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "Make my living with my own music (recording CDs, playing live, etc.)"
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Gradwohl resolutely answered, "Tube Screamer," and then outlined his musicial goals, "Create emotions with good vibes." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study country guitar styles, and is at the moment listening to Tribal Tech (Scott Henderson), Brent Mason, Steely Dan and Guano Apes. His most important gratification? "Playing live in front of an audience that really wants to hear my music and playing," he muses without hesitation.
Gradwohl winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Making new records with my jazz trio and my band Threeo."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Gerald Gradwohl to guitarists such as Scott Henderson and others.
