Fred Leduc is a unmistakable and nimble-fingered musician/guitarist currently based in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia) who denotes his playing style as progressive jazz/rock fusion, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "When Two Worlds Meet". His workhorse guitars consist of a Fender Strat lonstare and a Fender Plus. Leduc has been playing guitar since 1989, and putting it simply, divulges his career objective, "My goal is to have released a few more CDs through Deluc and even other projects. I want to have my home studio set up and also to have played around other countries other than Australia. I also will continue to create more powerful compositions."
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Leduc resolutely answered, "Digital delay," and then outlined his musicial goals, "The main theme is emotion and energy, to move someone and get their attention. Story lines within the music that are heard and related to. I love hidden ideas that you can't hear at the first listen, but stumble upon them down the track." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study with a well known composer ("It would probably be Sting to learn his tricks"), and is at the moment listening to a lot of classical pieces, Sting's music, R&B grooves and Latin flamenco instrumental pieces. His most important gratification? "To create new songs that are reacted to in a positive way. Also the great reviews i get about the Deluc album that feels amazing and satisfying," he explains without hesitation.
Leduc wraps up by noting long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "I have finished material for the second Deluc CD that is completely different, it is based on the nylon string guitar and features a blend of ambient textures with Latin and R&B grooves. It will still have a high standard of playing of all instruments but this will be on hold until the end on this year or the beginning of the next. This is because of the lack of financing that I can obtain. Hopefully I can get some support from a label. I am about to begin the recording of another project that features 3 other musicians. The songs are composed mainly by myself but the vocalist also composes with me on other songs. The album will be vocal-based (not instrumental)."
