September, 2000 More [Artist Bios]

Ferenzik is an altogether exciting, vibrant guitarist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (U.S.A.) who describes his style as cinematic fusion, as demonstrated on his latest release, "Devil's Playground". photoHis guitars of choice include a Frankenstien Fender Lead II and a Telecaster with Joe Barden pickups. Ferenzik has played guitar since 1973, and openly affirms his career goal, "I'd like to see myself still cranking out music. (I'd also like that beer endorsement deal...)"

When prompted to reveal his favorite effect for the guitar, Ferenzik replied, "Whammy Pedal, I use it all the time to transpose or play in octaves," and offered his musicial goals, "I'm not trying to express anything consciously. I like to create musical moments that are (1) fun to listen to, (2) challenging to listen to, and (3) interesting to perform." He would love to someday study how to play the drums better, and is currently listening to "Clear" - Spirit ("guitarist: Randy California, vastly underrated, excellent tone, may he rest in peace"), "Colossal Head" - Los Lobos;, "Les Filles de Kilimanjaro" - Miles Davis, "Gorgon" - composition by 20th Century Composer Christopher Rouse ("it's amazing orchestral music, really wild") and "Guitar" - Frank Zappa ("just about anything else by him, too!"). His greatest satisfaction? "The point at which I finish something," he states unambiguously.

photoFerenzik notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "I'm working on another instrumental CD, a collection of things I've been accumulating over the past 2 years. Also I've created two "pop" records which feature me crooning as well as playing: "Wheel of Nesh" ('97) and "Zero Points for Zeus" (release date mid-May, 2000). Other than this I'm still upgrading my personal studio to accommodate my compositional needs (more amps! more guitars! more synths! less money!). "

Ferenzik's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Wild Man Of Borneo", "Devil's Playground", "House Of Boris").
