Eric Sands is a dazzling, spirited guitarist from Atlanta, Georgia (USA) who describes his style as instrumental hard rock/art rock, as documented on his latest release, "Across The Miles". His guitars of choice include an Ibanez Universe and an Ibanez JEM. Sands has played guitar since 1974, and frankly confirms his career goal, "Within the next 5 years, I hope to release a few more CDs in addition to "The Generation Ibanez Project" and "Man on Fire"."
When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, Sands responded with, "Wah-wah pedal," and submitted his musicial goals, "I'm trying to convey a wide range of human emotion through guitar and fretless bass which I find to be amazingly expressive." He would like to someday study how to tap into the collective consciousness that binds all things together through love, art and spirituality ("Music is but one doorway to a higher level of spiritual reality"), and is currently listening to Mick Karn, Eloy, Peter Gabriel, Gary Numan, Lynch Mob and Union. His greatest satisfaction? "Playing live and seeing people enjoying and getting off on what I'm doing is a real rush," he answers indisputably.
Sands mentions ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "My musical day mainly includes promoting my music, playing for at least an hour or two, writing and looking for new CDs to buy."
Sands's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several recording projects (Rusty Cooley "Rusty Cooley", Rusty Cooley "Rusty Cooley With DVD", Trib Deep Purple/Rainbow "Blackmore's Castle Vol. 2", Music Of Hendrix "The Spirit Lives On Vol. 1", Gary Moore Tribute "Give Us Moore!", Uli Jon Roth Tribute "Beyond Inspiration", Truth Of Fiction "Truth Of Fiction").
