Don Lappin is a more-than-capable, altogether exciting six-stringer from Revere, Massachusetts (U.S.A.) who reveals his style as instrumental rock, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "Fine Lines". His favorite guitar is a Hamer Diablo. Lappin has played guitar since 1976, and freely declares his career aspiration, "In 5 years I see myself as a permanent faculty member at Berklee (fall and spring semesters in addition to the summer programs that I already teach) with the Don Lappin Group becoming firmly established in the industry. I would also like to have broken into the NAMM shows with a few endorsements under my belt and higher profile gigs."
When requested to reveal his ultimate effect for the guitar, Lappin came back with, "Delay," and then brought up his musicial goals, "To write guitar oriented instrumental music that appeals to a wider audience without compromising the integrity or quality of the compositions. In other words, to write the best music I possibly can and hope that other people actually like it!" He fervently hopes to one day study drums, and is at this time listening to a wide range of musical styles ranging from classical to jazz to rock to metal ("My favorite players include Jeff Beck, Eddie Van Halen, and Steve Morse"). His primary fulfillment? "When someone tells me that they love my playing and/or my music," he affirms conclusively.
Lappin concludes by listing continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "I have a full time teaching practice set up in the Boston area. In addition to that I am rehearsing with my group "The Don Lappin Group" and I hope to be gigging by February."
