Denis Taaffe is a reputable and driven musician/guitarist currently based in Bloomington, Indiana (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as modern rock guitar instrumentals, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Modern Guitar Vol. 4". His workhorse guitars consist of a Jackson Stealthex and a Schecter. Taaffe has been playing guitar since 1978, and truthfully shares his career objective, "To continue to evolve my style and make/release guitar recordings I enjoy, Work with band."
When the attempt was made to uncover his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Taaffe purposefully responded with, "Tube overdrive," and then volunteered his musicial goals, "My goal is to create music that captures "magical" moments and leads into new directions." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study fingerpicking and classical guitar, and is at the moment listening to Tangerine Dream, Sinead O'Connor, Eric Johnson, Iron Maiden and Phillip Glass. His most important gratification? "Developing my own guitar style and compositional style," he muses emphatically.
Taaffe winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Kradl guitar pick instructional CD, second CD with band, solo electric guitar gigs (loops, etc.), gigs with band to support CD."
Taaffe's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Modern Rock Guitar Vol. 1: Abducted By Aliens", "Alien Guitar: Modern Rock Guitar Vol. II", "Modern Rock Guitar Vol. III", "Modern Guitar Vol. 4").
