Dean McGinnes is a driven, vibrant guitarist from Monifieth, Scotland (United Kingdom) who describes his style as instrumental melodic/experimental rock, as demonstrated on his latest release, "The Journey Of Life". His guitars of choice consist of an Ibanez JS900 and a Peavey Wolfgang Standard. McGinnes has played guitar since 2002, and openly affirms his career goal, "I'm off down south to do a music course at BIMM. That will last around three
years, but anything could happen. I'm hoping to get in a professional band and tour the
world."
When prompted to reveal his favorite effect for the guitar, McGinnes replied, "Delay," and offered his musicial goals, "Anything i write has a meaning, what i was feeling or what I was going through at the time. So i'm hopeful people can relate to that." He would love to someday study at Berklee (that's the best of the best), and is currently listening to Thomas Blug, Andy Timmons, John Mayer and Bill Withers. His greatest satisfaction? "Playing a gig, it's just great, I love it," he states unambiguously.
McGinnes notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "I was getting a progressive rock band together. Got about four songs but that has stopped. I'm hopful that will pick up again when I start my music course and get some other top musicians."
McGinnes's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("The Journey Of Life").
