DC Slater is an enthusiastic, passionate guitar player from Wayne, New Jersey (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as instrumental rock, as can be heard on his latest release, "Altitude". His favorite guitar is an Ibanez. Slater has played guitar since 1988, and plainly confirms his career goal, "Aside from being a musician and producing my own music, I am working on setting up a commercial recording studio and producing for other artists."
When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Slater countered with, "Stereo delay," and then detailed his musicial goals, "My music ultimately reflects my mood at any given point in time. I find that my best writing comes when I'm not trying to write. Forcing an idea almost never works for me... occassionally it does. I guess the goal is to create music that allows the listener to freely interpret it in their own way. I try not to dictate my ideas... I just toss them out there." He would like to someday study jazz (I love listening to Django Reinhardt's style - incredible stuff), and is at this time listening to Joe Satriani, Van Halen and early '90s rock. His utmost satisfaction? "When people tell me how much they like something I've written... that it means something to them. Now that's a cool feeling," he answers decidedly.
Slater mentions continuing and future projects in his own words, "Taking care of business, working on the next album, rehearsing and gigging, producing for other musicians, and constantly tweaking my sound. I'm hoping to have the next disc out by the summer of '07."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of DC Slater to guitarists such as Joe Satriani and others.
