David T. Chastain is a vibrant and unmistakable musician/guitarist currently based in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as varying between progressive metal, fusion, rock and world music, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Rock Solid Guitar". His workhorse guitars include a Kramer Pacer and a Cheap Yamaha Electric. Chastain has been playing guitar since 1969, and truthfully shares his career objective, "To continue to put out CDs I am proud of, with no interest in commercial acceptance. Helping other artists thru Leviathan Records."
When the attempt was made to uncover his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Chastain purposefully responded with, "Art SGE MACH II," and then volunteered his musicial goals, "To play what I love." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study classical music composition for orchestra, and is at the moment listening to Joe Stump-"Rapid Fire Rondo", Kenziner-"Timescape", Magnitude 9-"The End of Time", old Allan Holdsworth and old live Stevie Ray Vaughan. His most important gratification? "First and foremost - fan mail. Also the demo versions of the instrumentals and the chills that some of the vocalists I produce give me in the studio," he muses emphatically.
Chastain winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Most of my day is taken up by Leviathan Records. Nights are for music composition. Currently working on a new Chastain, instrumental and as yet unnamed musical project."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of David T. Chastain to guitarists such as Michael Harris, Jason Becker, Tony MacAlpine, Joe Satriani, Vinnie Moore, Alex Masi, George Bellas and others.
Chastain's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one recording project (CJSS "2-4-1").
