David Martone is a unmistakable and nimble-fingered musician/guitarist currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) who denotes his playing style as progressive fusion, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Zone". His workhorse guitars consist of a Parker Fly and a Fender Strat. Martone has been playing guitar since 1976, and putting it simply, divulges his career objective, "To bring back instrumental music and make it new and exciting. Then to bring our music to the four corners of the earth and back, then conquer the next planet!"
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Martone resolutely answered, "Compression," and then outlined his musicial goals, "To create new sounds, song structures and harmony in music while expanding regular listener's minds to comprehend it." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study piano in the style of George Winston, and is at the moment listening to the Johansson Brothers with Allan Holdsworth, Serge Rachmaninoff, Noise Therapy and Peter Gabriel's 'The Passion'. His most important gratification? "Being able to squeeze emotion from every note, no matter how fast they occur and creating music with Paul, Juice and Daniel," he explains without hesitation.
Martone wraps up by noting long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "I am in the finishing stages of Martone's third release. I have also started working on vocal songs with my brother Paul. I am also starting to build a project studio for our recordings."
