David Martone is a passionate, vital guitarist from Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) who describes his style as progressive fusion, as documented on his latest release, "Zone". His guitars of choice include a Parker Fly and a Fender Strat. Martone has played guitar since 1976, and openly affirms his career goal, "To bring back instrumental music and make it new and exciting. Then to bring our music to the four corners of the earth and back, then conquer the next planet!"
When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, Martone responded with, "Compression," and submitted his musicial goals, "To create new sounds, song structures and harmony in music while expanding regular listener's minds to comprehend it." He would like to someday study piano in the style of George Winston, and is currently listening to the Johansson Brothers with Allan Holdsworth, Serge Rachmaninoff, Noise Therapy and Peter Gabriel's 'The Passion'. His greatest satisfaction? "Being able to squeeze emotion from every note, no matter how fast they occur and creating music with Paul, Juice and Daniel," he states indisputably.
Martone notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "I am in the finishing stages of Martone's third release. I have also started working on vocal songs with my brother Paul. I am also starting to build a project studio for our recordings."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of David Martone to guitarists such as Buckethead, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Vinnie Moore, Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe, Dave Martone, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, John 5 and others.
