Dave Reynolds is a nimble-fingered and unmistakable musician/guitarist currently based in Germantown, Maryland (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as classical guitar, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Solo". His workhorse guitar is a Contreras ("Made in Madrid, Spain by the Contreras Family"). Reynolds has been playing guitar since 1974, and truthfully shares his career objective, "Concert career and a university teaching position."
When the attempt was made to uncover his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Reynolds purposefully responded with, "Alla natural," and then volunteered his musicial goals, "I am using my background in jazz and rock to influence my writing on the classical guitar." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study for a Doctorate Degree in Music ("I currently have a Masters in Performance"), and is at the moment listening to Manuel Barrueco, Christopher Parkening and Pat Metheny. His most important gratification? "Performing on the concert stage," he muses emphatically.
Reynolds winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "I am entering an original competition in an international solo guitar composition. I am going to publish a book early next year of a dozen of my original compositions and record those compositions as well. I will sell the book and the CD seperately or together."
Reynolds's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Live From The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel", "Partenza", "Solo") and participation on a number of other recordings (Nick Layton "Storming The Castle", Ware/Reynolds "It's Christmas All Over").
