Dave Caulkins is an altogether exciting and reputable six-stringer currently based in Chico, California (U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as light acoustic jazz fusion, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Waves Of Expression". His most utilized guitars include a top of the line Takamine and a Guild. Caulkins has been playing guitar since 1969, and with no holds barred reveals his career aspiration, "I'm working to produce more recordings of good music saying all that I can possibly say and to definitely be discovered."
When asked to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, Caulkins responded by saying, "Chorus," and continued by mentioning his musicial goals, "I would like to express: peaceful relations among people; wholesomeness, recognizing true beauty and quality; experiencing the true depth of humanity; getting back to nature and the one (Jehovah) who created it; getting across the true meaning and depth of real romance, and the original yearning for a lasting relationship.." He fervently hopes to one day study music theory, and is presently listening to trumpet player Arturo Sandoval, Bloodstone, Tom Coster, and Deodato. His primary fulfillment? "Playing to appreciative people and introducing your own original composition and to watch people actually getting off on it. Also, the other day, while playing in the park, a beautiful young woman approached me and said what I was playing sounded very pretty. That makes me happy and inspires me. Money can't buy that feeling," he declares incontestably.
Caulkins concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "I'm working on my next album entitled "When I was Young". It will reminisce childhood simplicity in the early 60's, and the innocence of that time, right into adulthood, present time. The many songs will deal with life's memories, failings, achievements, regrets (good and bad) and romance. Pretty much going through the whole cycle of life. A Spring thru Winter theme with discriptive earthy lyrics. I spend my musical day remembering and arranging these songs and preparing the project for recording. I also drink some good homemade beer listening to all kinds of artists, being inspired all the time."
Caulkins's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Waves Of Expression").
