Dan Shimmyo is a unmistakable and reputable six-stringer currently based in East Meadow, New York (U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as instrumental hard rock with some neo-classical influence, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Ram's Rock". His most utilized guitars consist of a Carvin DC200 and a Gibson Les Paul. Shimmyo has been playing guitar since 1985, and with no holds barred reveals his career aspiration, "Splitting my time betwen being a computer business owner and part-time record producer."
When asked to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, Shimmyo came back with, "Reverb," and continued by mentioning his musicial goals, "I try my best to create an extension of myself through music. There's nothing specific that I want to express; I'm just trying to get people to feel the music by playing as well as I can." He fervently hopes to one day study the violin, and is presently listening to Sting, Dream Theater, Dave Matthews Band, No Doubt and Rush. His primary fulfillment? "Finishing a great mix and getting it off my hard drive and onto the CD," he declares incontestably.
Shimmyo concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "I'm in the planning stages of a new Shimmyo solo project. I have a new portable sequencer which I'll use for most of the composition. I'm hoping to find enough time in 1998 to start and finish a new CD. I'll probably need to get a new bass and I'd like a new guitar. I'm toying with the idea of using real drums instead of a drum machine. I might need to build a bigger studio. First I'll need a little inspiration."
Shimmyo's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes a number of recording projects (Handz Of Danz "Handz Of Danz", Heavy Reign "Ram's Rock", Shimmyo "Metamorphosis").
