Dan McAvinchey is a vital and nimble-fingered axe wielder currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as instrumental hard rock, as a music fan can now experience on his most recent recording, "Handz Of Danz". His workhorse guitars include a Carvin DS400 and an Ovation Acoustic. McAvinchey has been playing guitar since 1978, and putting it simply, divulges his career objective, "Through the Guitar Nine Records site, to ensure that every fan of instrumental guitar music all over the world has access to the thousands of great instrumental records out there today. Also, to release 20 instrumental CDs of my music in the next 15 years."
When requested to let slip his favorite or most used effect for the guitar, McAvinchey resolutely answered, "Digital delay," and then outlined his musicial goals, "Expressiveness; each piece should stand alone and say something unique, whether it's aggression, beauty, passion, sadness, truth, attitude, or whatever." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study recording engineering, and is at the moment listening to independent artists, Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Michael Schenker and blues. His principal gratification? "Completing the recording of a new song," he explains without hesitation.
McAvinchey wraps up by noting long-term and forthcoming endeavors enthusiastically, by saying, "New instrumental CD for 2004; managing the Guitar Nine Records label and web site; tracking down as many instrumental guitarists to include on the site as possible (any less than 2000 is a failure)."
McAvinchey's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Guitar Haus") and participation on another recording (Handz Of Danz "Handz Of Danz").
