Dan McAvinchey is an adroit and accomplished axe wielder currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as instrumental hard rock, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent album, "Handz Of Danz". His most utilized guitars consist of a Carvin DS400 and an Ovation Acoustic. McAvinchey has been playing guitar since 1978, and without beating around the bush discloses his career aspiration, "Through the Guitar Nine Records site, to ensure that every fan of instrumental guitar music all over the world has access to the thousands of great instrumental records out there today. Also, to release 20 instrumental CDs of my music in the next 15 years."
When prompted to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, McAvinchey responded by saying, "Digital delay," and continued by citing his musicial goals, "Expressiveness; each piece should stand alone and say something unique, whether it's aggression, beauty, passion, sadness, truth, attitude, or whatever." He eagerly hopes to one day study recording engineering, and is presently listening to independent artists, Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Michael Schenker and blues. His principal fulfillment? "Completing the recording of a new song," he declares without a doubt.
McAvinchey wraps up by mentioning current and approaching undertakings enthusiastically, by saying, "New instrumental CD for 2004; managing the Guitar Nine Records label and web site; tracking down as many instrumental guitarists to include on the site as possible (any less than 2000 is a failure)."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Dan McAvinchey to guitarists such as Ronnie Montrose and others.
McAvinchey's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Guitar Haus") and participation on another recording (Handz Of Danz "Handz Of Danz").
