Dan Keller is a passionate and distinctive musician/guitarist currently based in Baetterkinden, Berne (Switzerland) who denotes his playing style as exotic metal, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Electric Storm". His workhorse guitar is a Jackson KE2. Keller has been playing guitar since 1977, and truthfully shares his career objective, "Merging my Exotic Metal style with other styles like Classical or Indian
music is an adventure - I'm looking forward every day to do it! I want to record different albums which show all the facetes of my musical emotions and thoughts. Also, a music school including a distance learning feature (already started) to support many young and old guys in musical aspects."
When asked to disclose his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Keller purposefully responded with, "Wah," and outlined his musicial goals, "Awake emotions thru haunting melodies." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study other exotic instruments, like the Chinese Erhu (2-string instrument), and is at the moment listening to Kitaro, Asian/Oriental music, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker and Steve Vai. His most important gratification? "Playing a simple melody with an expressive vibrato and sound," he muses confidently.
Keller winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Record classical songs in my Exotic Metal style and feel, e.g. "The Swan" of C. Saint-Saëns. Write more columns about Exotic Metal related things. Set up a band to play my music live."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Dan Keller to guitarists such as Marty Friedman, Jason Becker and others.
