Curtis Reid is a more-than-capable, committed six-stringer from Gilbert, Arizona (U.S.A.) who reveals his style as rock, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "Omniumgatherum". His favorite guitars consist of a '57 Fender Stratocaster and a '59 Gretsch Anniversary. Reid has played guitar since 1973, and freely acknowledges his career aspiration, "Touring to promote my brand new CD so I can sell the CDs to make a new CD to sell so I can finance our daughter's (Ashley) college years. But just that!"
When requested to reveal his ultimate effect for the guitar, Reid answered back with, "'64 Fender 6G15 reverb unit," and then brought up his musicial goals, "To have the spirit of music go to tape!" He hopes to one day study literature at a major university, and is at this time listening to Lyle Mays "Lyle Mays"/"As Falls Witchita", Jethro Tull "Passion Play"/"Dot Com", Brahms "Symphony #3 in F Major", Dada "El Subliminoso", Jimi Hendrix "Axis: Bold As Love" and Holst "The Planets". His primary fulfillment? "Moving somebody, somehow, someway through music," he affirms conclusively.
Reid concludes by mentioning continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Tracking has begun on the new recording project (works are all written!) I've tuned the '78 Strat to Eb with big strings and am writng some "bluesier" based pieces. I do sing so maybe a vocal track will make it to the next CD (no promises!) I would love to tour now as I have not been able to in the past!"
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Curtis Reid to guitarists such as Pat Metheny, Eric Johnson and others.
