Chris Brooks is a driven and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in Sydney (Australia) who denotes his playing style as instrumental progressive metal mixed with rock fusion, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "The Master Plan". photoHis workhorse guitar is an Ibanez J-Custom S1540. Brooks has been playing guitar since 1987, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "Builiding a respectable portfolio of solo albums (aiming at one per year) and session work, and to convert the material taught in my lessons into at least one instructional book or DVD/Video."

When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Brooks resolutely answered, "Any delay unit with good transparency," and then outlined his musicial goals, "To create dynamic music that uses diversity and contrast, and to reach not only guitar players but rock fans in general." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study jazz technique, and is at the moment listening to Jon Finn, Allan Holdsworth, Symphony X and Vinnie Moore. His most important gratification? "Knowing that "record" was on when I did my best take," he muses without hesitation.

photoBrooks winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Ongoing - songwriting, teaching.  Upcoming - guitar clinics and recording a library album for use on TV programs (sport shows, etc.)"

Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Chris Brooks to guitarists such as Brett Garsed, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Kee Marcello and others.

Brooks's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("The Master Plan") and participation on another recording (The Alchemists II "The Alchemists II").
