Chris Brooks is an adroit, enthusiastic guitar player from Sydney (Australia) who expresses his style as instrumental progressive metal mixed with rock fusion, as one can appreciate on his latest album, "The Master Plan". His favorite guitar is an Ibanez J-Custom S1540. Brooks has played guitar since 1987, and candidly acknowledges his career aspiration, "Builiding a respectable portfolio of solo albums (aiming at one
per year) and session work, and to convert the material taught in my lessons into at least one instructional book or DVD/Video."
When requested to reveal his number one effect for the guitar, Brooks answered back with, "Any delay unit with good transparency," and then brought up his musicial goals, "To create dynamic music that uses diversity and contrast, and
to reach not only guitar players but rock fans in general." He hopes to one day study jazz technique, and is at this time listening to Jon Finn, Allan Holdsworth, Symphony X and Vinnie Moore. His utmost fulfillment? "Knowing that "record" was on when I did my best take," he affirms conclusively.
Brooks concludes by mentioning continuing and future undertakings in his own words, "Ongoing - songwriting, teaching. Upcoming - guitar clinics and recording a library album for use on TV programs (sport shows, etc.)"
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Chris Brooks to guitarists such as Brett Garsed, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Kee Marcello and others.
Brooks's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("The Master Plan") and participation on another recording (The Alchemists II "The Alchemists II").
