Charlie Read is a dynamic and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in Parkersburg, West Virginia (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as instrumental rock flavored with fngerstyle and blues, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Read Between The Lines". photoHis workhorse guitars include an American Deluxe Strat and a Les Paul Special. Read has been playing guitar since 1967, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "To continue teaching and to make a few more CDs of original music."

When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Read resolutely answered, "Distortion," and outlined his musicial goals, "To make guitar music that is technically good but melodic enough to touch the spirit." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study privately with Paul Gilbert or John Petrucci, and is at the moment listening to anything by the Beatles, Joe Satriani, Phil Keaggy, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater. His most important gratification? "Writing and recording songs that are not only pleasing to me, but also enjoyed by my listeners," he muses confidently.

Read winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "I'm working to promote the current CD and get my name out there, while teaching 60+ students, and writing for my next project"

Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Charlie Read to guitarists such as Joe Satriani, Phil Keaggy and others.
