December, 2004 More [Artist Bios]

Charlie Read is an accomplished, passionate guitar player from Parkersburg, West Virginia (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as instrumental rock flavored with fngerstyle and blues, as can be heard on his latest release, "Read Between The Lines". photoHis favorite guitars consist of an American Deluxe Strat and a Les Paul Special. Read has played guitar since 1967, and plainly confirms his career goal, "To continue teaching and to make a few more CDs of original music."

When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Read countered with, "Distortion," and then detailed his musicial goals, "To make guitar music that is technically good but melodic enough to touch the spirit." He would like to someday study privately with Paul Gilbert or John Petrucci, and is at this time listening to anything by the Beatles, Joe Satriani, Phil Keaggy, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater. His utmost satisfaction? "Writing and recording songs that are not only pleasing to me, but also enjoyed by my listeners," he answers decidedly.

photoRead mentions continuing and future projects in his own words, "I'm working to promote the current CD and get my name out there, while teaching 60+ students, and writing for my next project"

Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Charlie Read to guitarists such as Joe Satriani, Phil Keaggy and others.

Read's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Read Between The Lines").
