Brian Loyd is a consummate and more-than-capable axe wielder currently based in Lakeland, Florida (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as heavy metal/rock fusion, as a listener can readily appreciate on his most recent album, "Gutted". His most utilized guitars consist of a PRS Custom 24 and a Double Neck Korina Mahogany "DEAN" Cadillac. Loyd has been playing guitar since 1975, and without beating around the bush reveals his career aspiration, "I am working to continue the release of as many quality recordings as I can without compromise of personal musical integrity. I see myself doing what I'm doing now, only further along!"
When asked to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, Loyd responded by saying, "The Digitech Whammy II pedal, I love it's versatility," and continued by mentioning his musicial goals, "Every emotion possible, but the ones that continues to rear their ugly heads are anger, aggression and hostility. I've tried to get away from that but the music comes across sounding contrived, so I've decided to embrace it. Hopefully someone will understand!" He eagerly hopes to one day study flat top fingerstyle folk music ("I'll never give up the efforts to perfect my electric playing though"), and is presently listening to Steve Vai ("Always new and refreshing"), Steve Morse ("Technical and compositional wizard"), Days of the New ("Great emotion with classic acoustic tones"), Frank Zappa and old Van Halen. His principal fulfillment? "When someone recognizes my work and appreciates the effort that I put into it," he declares incontestably.
Loyd concludes by detailing current and approaching undertakings enthusiastically, by saying, "I spend about 85% of my free time practicing, the remaining 15% writing. I am currently preparing a 5 song (about 25 minute) CD that will be available through Guitar Nine Records. It will definitely be heavy metal/rock fusion!"
