Brian Loyd is a dynamic, self-motivated guitarist from Lakeland, Florida (U.S.A.) who describes his style as heavy metal/rock fusion, as documented on his latest release, "Gutted". His guitars of choice include a PRS Custom 24 and a Double Neck Korina Mahogany "DEAN" Cadillac. Loyd has played guitar since 1975, and openly affirms his career goal, "I am working to continue the release of as many quality recordings as I can without compromise of personal musical integrity. I see myself doing what I'm doing now, only further along!"
When prompted to reveal his preferred effect for the guitar, Loyd responded with, "The Digitech Whammy II pedal, I love it's versatility," and offered his musicial goals, "Every emotion possible, but the ones that continues to rear their ugly heads are anger, aggression and hostility. I've tried to get away from that but the music comes across sounding contrived, so I've decided to embrace it. Hopefully someone will understand!" He would love to someday study flat top fingerstyle folk music ("I'll never give up the efforts to perfect my electric playing though"), and is currently listening to Steve Vai ("Always new and refreshing"), Steve Morse ("Technical and compositional wizard"), Days of the New ("Great emotion with classic acoustic tones"), Frank Zappa and old Van Halen. His greatest satisfaction? "When someone recognizes my work and appreciates the effort that I put into it," he states unambiguously.
Loyd notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "I spend about 85% of my free time practicing, the remaining 15% writing. I am currently preparing a 5 song (about 25 minute) CD that will be available through Guitar Nine Records. It will definitely be heavy metal/rock fusion!"
Loyd's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Gutted").
