Bill Epps is a self-motivated and highly regarded six-stringer currently based in Sunnyvale, California (U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as surf rock, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Headin' Out". His most utilized guitar is a self-customized Fender Stratocaster. Epps has been playing guitar since 1961, and with no holds barred declares his career aspiration, "Playing vast quantities of fun gigs."
When requested to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, Epps came back with, "Fender outboard reverb," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "Melodic content and maximum emotional impact." He fervently hopes to one day study harmonica, to combine it with guitar playing, and is presently listening to Neo-rockabilly styles, as done by Brian Lombeck and Crazy Joe Trishler (as seen on
the Guitar Geek Festival DVD's), Jeff Beck (as seen on his DVD Rock & Roll Party
Honoring Les Paul). His primary fulfillment? "Recording, mixing," he declares categorically.
Epps concludes by listing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Next batch of original instrumentals."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Bill Epps to guitarists such as Dick Dale and others.
