Barrett Tagliarino is a skillful, vital guitarist from Hollywood, California (U.S.A.) who describes his style as instrumental rock and fusion, as documented on his latest release, "Moe's Art".  His guitar of choice is a 1964 Stratocaster, serial # L21569 (refinished). Tagliarino has played guitar since 1971, and openly affirms his career goal, "In the five to ten year time frame I'm pretty sure I will go back to Europe for some clinics and gigs. I also plan to make another CD. The first one took three years to complete."
When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, Tagliarino responded with, "Tube Screamer," and submitted his musicial goals, "I am very down-to-earth when it comes to writing. I have no lofty philosophical concepts. I just try very hard to use what I've learned in the right way to make people want to listen to it. If I am patient I can reach that inspired place where ideas lead effortlessly into each other. But I am really into the 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration school of doing things. I will rewrite and rerecord the same song ten times if necessary." He would like to someday study computer programming ("With computers, I finally found something as intriguing as a guitar"), and is currently listening to Outsidemen, Vital Tech Tones, Jazz Is Dead, XTC and Curtis Mayfield. His greatest satisfaction? "Taking on a large project and actually seeing it through to completion has been the most rewarding thing. There was a point where I started to realize how much work lay ahead. I'd wonder whether it was worth expending all that effort and money on. I'd start second guessing: Should I be doing this recording by myself or should I just go play in a band? Was it really a good idea to do something with no vocals, etc...hundreds of doubts. These were really feelings of self-doubt coming up. I would tend to find other things to do at that point in a project. I might give up on something before it was done in the past. Then my time really was wasted. I finally decided it didn't matter what I was doing. I just set a goal and drove blindly toward it with no regard for whether it was right or wrong," he states indisputably.
 Tagliarino notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "Usually I have about twenty hours a week of teaching at M.I., along with a couple of hours at home getting charts ready for school. That institutionalizes everything and makes me practice whether I feel like it or not. Then I also occasionally get called to do studio work -- commercials, or demos for commercials. I have not been playing in the clubs much since I started recording my CD. There's just no time, something had to go. But I probably played a thousand gigs in L.A. before that."
