Andy Martin is a more-than-capable, spirited guitar player from Los Angeles, California (United States) who expresses his style as instrumental hard melodic rock, as can be heard on his latest release, "Brother From Another Mother". His guitar of choice is an Ibanez RG Custom. Martin has played guitar since 1989, and frankly confirms his career goal, "Everything I ever dreamed of came true, everything from here on in is a bonus! I just was to play, perform, make new friends. I know I'm going to my grave with my guitar around my neck!"
When requested to name his ideal effect for the guitar, Martin responded with, "Eventide Processors (GTR 4000, 7000, Eclipse)," and submitted his musicial goals, "To continue writing, playing, performing and having fun with music. Once it becomes work I will quit, but we all know that won't happen. I want to continue the feeling of freedom when I play. It moves me that others feel it too." He would like to someday study astronomy, and is currently listening to anything that has a groove and is tasteful ("Just because a certain genre may not appeal to you, doesn't mean you can't learn from it"). His utmost satisfaction? "Hearing from fans how my music has touched them, putting a smile on someone's face and playing guitar for myself and for others live," he answers indisputably.
Martin mentions ongoing and upcoming projects in his own words, "Fnished writting my second book "The Arpeggio Dictionary", published by Mel Bay, quoted by Ted Greene, and my first book "Seven String Guitar", published by Hal Leonard, quoted by Steve Vai. I also will be doing some instructional videos, but my priority is going to Japan to play and then play the USA!"
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Andy Martin to guitarists such as Steve Vai and others.
Martin's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Brother From Another Mother") and participation on another recording (Larry Carlton "Deep Into It").
