Andre LaFosse is an expressive and highly regarded six-stringer currently based in Sherman Oaks (Los Angeles), California (U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as jungle guitar, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Disruption Theory". His most utilized guitar is a Steinberger. LaFosse has been playing guitar since 1988, and with no holds barred declares his career aspiration, "Being gainfully self-employed through a combination of studio work, production, performance, teaching, and distribution of my own music."
When requested to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, LaFosse came back with, "Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "My compositional interests lie in exploring the intersection between sample-based/post-DJ approaches to sound with conventional ideas of 'performance,' 'composition,' etc." He fervently hopes to one day study turntablism, and is presently listening to Fela Kuti, Swans and Magma. His primary fulfillment? "Finding a (relatively) unique way of saying something real," he declares categorically.
LaFosse concludes by listing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Expanding Altruist Music in terms of sales, distribution, visibility, and roster of artists; doing live performances that follow through on some of the ideas addressed on "Disruption Theory" *without* simply getting a band and playing the tunes straight down as they appear on the album; building up a clientele of students here in LA; doing performance or production work with other artists."
LaFosse's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Disruption Theory").
