Anand Mahangoe is a potent and expressive musician/guitarist currently based in Budapest (Hungary) who denotes his playing style as instrumental, melodic hard rock, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Joy 4 Ever". His workhorse guitars include a Yamaha RGX 1212A (his own model) and a Carvin. Mahangoe has been playing guitar since 1982, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "Well, as I am working at a record company, I am working on getting and making connections with other partners everywhere in the world to get my CD to the buyers. So I am working on getting a record company for my music, and this is going quite well so far."
When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Mahangoe purposefully responded with, "Only reverb will do," and outlined his musicial goals, "Put the CD in the CD player, close your eyes and dream away from the red bananaworld till being far away the ones you love." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study with Steve Vai ("Concerning harmony, scales, chords and more"), and is at the moment listening to Joe Satriani's new CD, Queen ("Freddy was such gifted singer, he knew how to express feelings!") and the Backstreet Boys ("Great songs"). His most important gratification? "Eating chocolate ice cream in the hot summer! Sex," he muses confidently.
Mahangoe winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Working on second CD for the next year. I practice 1-2 hours a day becaue I have an 8 hour a day job. Before that I practiced 5 hours a day. Writing songs on the computer. Keeping my fingers loose."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Anand Mahangoe to guitarists such as Tony MacAlpine, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Pascal Allaigre, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, John Petrucci and others.
