Adam Carl Stephens is a dynamic and expressive musician/guitarist currently based in Sydney, New South Wales (Australia) who denotes his playing style as instrumental rock, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Skybrain Surfing". His workhorse guitars include a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and a Fender Strat. Stephens has been playing guitar since 1985, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "Playing gigs, touring, recording and becoming a full time musician."
When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Stephens resolutely answered, "Wah wah," and outlined his musicial goals, "To get closer to pure expression through playing." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, and is at the moment listening to Rage Against the Machine, Dweezil Zappa, John Paul Jones and Jeff Beck. His most important gratification? "Playing live when the groove has locked in and you can feel the whole band cookin'," he muses confidently.
Stephens winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Almost finished a CD single with hard rock band Tonker and I'm currently playing in hard as funk band Erratic."
