A brilliant anthology of Hedges' solo work, "Beyond Boundaries: Guitar Solos" features acoustic guitar-wizard Michael Hedges doing what he does best: using complex, jazzy tunings and interesting picking/tapping techniques that typically causes mortal guitarists to point to their speakers in disbelief. Michael Hedges did for the solo acoustic guitar what Jimi Hendrix did for the electric guitar--completely redefined the possibilities of the instrument. From the composer's perspective, he used his guitar to orchestrate tone poems whose sounds were unlike anything previously imagined for a solo instrument. Almost fully instrumental (very brief, humorous vocal on "The Funky Avocado"), the CD covers Hedges' entire career and celebrates the legacy of this groundbreaking artist.
