letter dam Nitti is a highly disciplined bassist, this CD, his second, shows him taking on the challenge of funk fused, technical fusion. What I hear when listening is a combination of many great bassists in one person - he can play with the same fluidity as Alain Caron, or the same melodic funky phrasing as Marcus Miller. At times I am also reminded of Brian Bromberg, though his music is never as smooth jazz-like as Brian's. Obviously Nitti studied the greats, and found time enough to not only meet his contemporaries, but to forge his own signature in his music as well. Musically, this CD has a strong accent on the bass, but not in a way that takes from the overall composition. There are some fantastic arrangements on this album that involve the many contributing members talents as well. The bulk of the songs are somewhere in between what Alain Caron has been doing, and perhaps Tribal Tech. A very good second effort, this is music that will appeal greatly to the people that love high intensity, challenging fusion, with some funk styled bass mixed into the overall sound, some bands that may remind of this style are: The Code, Alain Caron (UZEB), Spaced Out, Tribal Tech, Fragile (Japan), Victor LeMonte Wooten and Stuart Hamm.
