Review of "Acoustic Christmas"
|
By: John P. McLaughlin
his is fast becoming one of my favourite Christmas records ever. Sinclair is one of the finest guitarists in town, a veteran of innumerable jingle, film and album sessions, was a member of Straight Lines, and has toured with k.d. lang and Sarah McLachlan. Playing six and 12-string guitar, the mandolin-like laudin and all the light percussion, Sinclair works beautifully through songs like "The First Noel", "Huron Carol", "March of The Toys" and, surprisingly, "The Water Is Wide". His playing is wonderfully lyrical and contemplative, perfectly suited to a
quiet evening away from all that seasonal razzle-dazzle out there. ****1/2
