Canadian acoustic guitarist David Sinclair's 1995 holiday release, Acoustic Christmas, features creative reworkings of a dozen Yuletide favorites (one composition is an original). Sinclair uses 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars as his primary melodic device, but adds depth and interest to his arrangements through the use of an E-bow on electric guitar, Dobro and acoustic guitar ("The First Noel", "Irish Moon", "The Water Is Wide"), a laudin (a small lute) and various percussive ideas. Noted producer Bruce Fairbairn (Aerosmith, Chicago, Cranberries) has stated about Acoustic Christmas, "A wonderfully inspired collection of Christmas music - tastefully and soulfully performed by one of my all time favorite guitarists." Even Sarah McLachlan has remarked, "David shines in his renditions of these gentle and spirited Christmas songs." Strong praise indeed. Instrumental Guitar (Acoustic/Fingerstyle/Folk), total running time, 40:33 - David Sinclair @ iTunes!
