lying Fingers is exactly what this shred virtuoso delivers. Powell Young is China's finest export into the world of instrumental guitar. Sounding like a combination of Joe Satriani and Rusty Cooley with a pinch of Frank Gambale and a smattering of Paul Gilbert - make no mistake, Powell Young is as unique as any of the aforementioned guitar god's. Drawing inspiration from his homeland of northern China, Powell shreds his way through 12 intense instrumental tracks that twist and turn with a strong presence of melodic sensibility. He has infused some very unusual ideas that come from traditional Chinese music into an intoxicating mixture of instrumental guitar.
From the get go "Flying Fingers" establishes itself as a world class release. Smoking through Satriani type compositions like the powerful opener "Run to Space" or the shred infused blues number "Highway 66" (Tribute to Bob Dylan) - Gotta Love That!! Powell turns down for the title track and comes up with the CDs coolest composition - combining some real interesting percussion sounding rhythms with his emotionally drenched guitar. Very cool stuff indeed.
Powell Young is someone to watch out for - this guy is a musicians, musician. You can tell by his strong compositional abilities that he lives and breaths music. He easily gives the Satriani's and Vai's of the world a run for their money.
If you are a fan of emotionally delivered instrumental guitar playing with shred sensibilities and melodic structure you will absolutely love Powell Young's - "2065 Flying Fingers"!
